By Richie / June 21, 2017

If you are looking for an easy to operate drone then AKASO X5C is the one you need. These are the great entry level best toy drones for kids that is sure to please. The light weight and durable toy drones for both you and your kids! It's easy to use and operate especially if you are new to flying drones.

This AKASO X5C toy drones come with the guards, extra replacement blades, battery and camera, all look to be good quality.

For your convenience we have presented the reason why you should make a decision to buy AKASO X5C.

Let's take a look at the features of AKASO X5C

Built-in Camera

AKASO X5C has got a build in camera that allows recording video or taking images. You can capture your friends and family from aerial view shots and see the world from a new angle.

With the camera, the quality of AKASO X5C is impressive for what it is.We won’t say that the camera is perfect, but the video quality isn't bad either. Not being skeptical of the video quality! But within this price range, it really is pretty amazing and you can get some super cool shots.

Tips on record function

The recording function is awesome but for the file to save you have to stop recording as well. I did realize that for the video files to save you need to stop recording prior to ejecting the SD card.

Cool control and fabulous flight experience with 360-degree Flip

The AKASO X5C offers high speed flight. The AKASO X5C is controlled by a 2.4GHz transmitter, which is interference-free. It will not be interfered by other quadcopters.

Just press the key, and you got 360-degree Flip, continuous roll for perfect action and wonderful performance.

You will be pleasantly surprised at how well AKASO X5C operates and how resilient it is. It holds up well to rough and inadvertent landings. You and your kid would have lot of fun flying it pretty high and doing some 360 turns to looks at the things below.

The trick mode is awesome. Pushing the speed control button, switches the quad to high performance mode. Bump the trick button and flip the control stick in any direction and the toy drone will do a barrel roll/360 degree flip in that/any direction. When it's stable, you can get it doing more tricks: up/downward, left/rightward, 360 degree rotate, etc.

There are lights on the underside to let you know which portion is the front and rear of the craft even in the dark. The controller pairs easily, has controls for the camera to use video or photos. There are also digital trim controls on the controller to fine tune the craft if it is drifting in the wrong direction. There is a flip button that makes the ship to really cool tricks effortlessly. Also an easy button and controls are there to slow the responsiveness of the toy drones to make flying more stable and easy.

Controlling Distance: about 50~100 meters

Tips on controlling AKASO X5C

Syncing the controller to the quad can be a little finicky at times, but all you have to do is power cycle it a couple times and normally you're fine. Also, be sure to turn the quad on while it is perfectly level. When you turn it on, it calibrates the board and if it’s anything other than level, it won’t fly right.

The best indicator to find that it is ready for pairing is the led lights underneath. When they stop quick flashing and turn steady you can power up the controller to sync the two.

The loop button is pretty neat and works well. You have to press the button and then press on the directional stick. The direction you press is the direction the quad copter flips. You can do one after another.

These toy drones are super stable and my kids enjoy just tossing it in the air to launch (must be upright) then hitting the throttle and watching it catch itself. You would have it pretty far away and the range is impressive.

The most important step is to turn on the drone and remote with the drone sitting on the most level surface possible "It has a self calibrating and gyroscope." Within 2 or 3 flights you would be able to master the controls, for sure.

You know there is a learning curve. That being said the challenge is a blast!!

Stable and safe propellers with solider protection

Built-in 6-axis gyro quad-rotor, strong stability, can easily implement various flight movements, stronger wind resistance, easier to control- all these features make this drone distinguished among others within this price range. It has good solid blades protection that should extend the life of the blades.

The propeller blades are guarded by high quality plastic blade frames which decrease impacts from collision. It includes a removable hull and blade guards so it's both suitable for flying indoors and outdoors.

Tips for propeller

Don't fly without blade guards though, Many found out the hard way when they flew it into their hand. Those blades hurt! Please read the instructions before you start.

This is stable in the air and flies well but there is definitely a learning curve. We would suggest a wide open space. With a light flying craft there is also a decree of fragility. Don't get us wrong, it is well constructed, but a blow or twist the wrong way would probably not be good.

Battery provides up to 10-15 minutes of flying time

The battery on AKASO X5C is 600 MAH unlike other brands that will ship with 500 MAH battery. Featured Flying Time is 5~7 minutes. But experiences revealed that it provides up to 10-15 minutes of flying time. While it can fly when the air is moving it can be challenging and in some cases it struggled to fly against an oncoming wind. That is pretty much common sense.

Wound up getting more batteries and a quad charger for this and the extra batteries and flying time is nice.

Battery life while in action

The average battery ran from 7.5 minutes on the first flight using the video capture the whole time to over 10 minutes only taking a few snap shots. Additional batteries and chargers are available, so that's probably what you can go for.

Tips on battery

We would recommend getting a spare set of batteries because the recharge takes about an hour and a half.

LiPO Charging Time - 60 minutes

The included charger charges the Lithium Ion battery in about 60 minutes. LiPO gives you faster output, can storage more power and last long .

Tips on charging

All toy drones seem to have the same limitations on battery life, even the expensive ones so one thing you can do is purchase extra battery's and the charging station.

Spare parts

As for a budget drone, spare parts are a most convenient thing about this model. You would be impressed at what was included with AKASO X5C . Of course you have the copter and a controller (there is some simple assembly required) but also included is a memory card for the camera, a USB card reader to view your videos with a USB card, replacement blades, and even a tiny screwdriver to help with assembly.
It is very impotent because you will need spare parts and find them cheap is critical.

Reasonable Price

AKASO X5C is one of the best toy drones for the price if you have never flown a toy drone before, so you want to try one out for your kids but don't want to pay a ton of money to do it. You will be impressed with the idea of how they can charge so little to give you this nice of a product, plus a controller. Many of the buyers, who have gone through some on-line research when looking for a reasonable priced toy drones came across this one.

Light weight with the easy option to remove the camera

The great thing about this model - AKASO X5C is that it comes in a few ounces under the half pound limit for registering them. Its light and its plastic...as to be expected. This is very much important. For, as of December 21, 2015, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requesting anyone who wants to fly an unmanned aerial system (UAS) more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams) and less than 55 pounds (approximately 25 kilograms) for recreation or hobby to register with the agency.

The camera is mounted on the battery door and is done so in such a way that with the removal of a few screws and simply unplugging the lead you can fly without the extra weight of the camera if wanted.

It can handle some pretty choppy wind conditions if you are experienced in working with the wind. The light weight design does help with lowering the impact forces anyway though.

Super easy to assemble

This is easy to use right out of the box. The manual is easy to understand and get information quickly. Just add batteries to the remote, the landing gear and blade guards and fly within 15 minutes. What a blast! Here are the instructions for you:

Step 1.

Insert the battery into the quad-copter and plug it in the receptacle. (Make sure battery is fully charged)

Step 2.

On the Remote Control make sure the left throttle stick is all down, then insert new batteries and turn on the remote.

Step 3.

Wait for few seconds to see if both device will sync. You will hear three beep sound when devices are paired. (Proceed to Step 4 if device is not synced.)

Step 4.

On the left throttle stick, push it all the way up and down quickly.
